Color theory

The color of the water in a residential pool is the most immediate reaction one has when viewing a pool. How this water color combines with the pool’s surrounding deck, landscaping and overall design within the back yard setting is the central element of color theory.

The most immediate impact any pool has is the color of the water. Either it has a “wow” factor or not.

Your pool does not have to be expensive to achieve rich colors. Your pool can have stunning colors and provide years of enjoyment without spending beyond your budget.

If the water color is stunning, the overall impact on the style of your house will be stunning too. Many people mistakenly focus on shape, pumps, water features, tiles, etc. While these are important, the color of your pool will have the most impact.

Use your pool year round

Even when you are not swimming in your pool, it is a visual element in your backyard, and should be an appealing element. The beautiful sparkle from your pool water is calming and provides enjoyment. This is using your pool just as much as swimming in it. Beautiful blue, sparkling water will outshine a pale, white pool.

We consider white pools to be:

• Cold (up to 5 degrees colder than a color pool)

• Susceptible to yellowing and staining

• Always dirty looking

• Uninviting, as they look frigid and pale

Why color
Pool water color can make a huge difference in the overall attractiveness of your pool. Water color is determined by the surface color of the pool. To achieve the rich blues of coral reef waters, your pool will need one of Leisure Pools' exclusive Aquaguard® gel coat finishes.

We want to offer you the latest and best pool options available, which is why we recommend color pools.

Many hotels are adopting color application in their plans to highlight their hotel pools. Pale white finishes tend to show all dirt and stains, which render the pool old before their time.

Hotel pools are being built with deep, inviting blues. Many pool architects apply these rich colors to also enhance residential pools. White pools have become less desirable, because of the ease of color application and the aforementioned benefits of color.

Options for any budget level are available.
